For years people have used shock collars for small dogs to help train the ones that are seemingly to stubborn to learn. A lot of smaller dogs can be hard headed when it comes to learning. This could be because when these small breeds are young puppies they are often allowed to get away with things normal sized dogs would not be allowed to do. Because smaller dogs are really tiny when in their first six months of life, people tend to treat them like human babies and often find their misbehaving antics as cute.
Allowing any animal to get away with behavior that will not be tolerated when they are older is one of the biggest mistakes the owners of these toy breeds can make. The fact that they are small and are constantly held and spoiled makes training them even harder in the long run. These tiny little pooches that have been getting away with acting out while young tend to be extremely stubborn when they hit their adult life. Some of these little critters are even vicious and bite, thus they are called ankle biters by many people.
When a toy breed has gotten out of control it is wise to use a remote dog training collar on them when all other methods of teaching them have failed. Though these collars deliver a shock when activated and are fairly painless. A lot of people say they are a miracle worker when it comes to the dog that’s hard to teach. Some people refer to these collars as inhumane; however the collar does not deliver a strong enough shock to cause injury.
A lot of people that have not let their small breed dog get away with bad behavior still find themselves struggling to teach these tiny tot dogs. Using shock collars for small dogs does in fact assist in faster training and though they seem cruel they are often the only option for those who have exhausted all other training methods. For animals that don’t respond to this type of training it may be wise to consult with a dog trainer and enter the animal in a training program or hire an individual to work one on one with the dog.
